Today I created my first ever blog. Blogging is all new for me. I’m quite excited to try this new way of communication. I hope to get your support and comment regarding my blog and research work.
I’m a DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) research student at the Sydney Business School, University of Wollongong. My research topic is about how work values impact people’s perception of work-life balance. Particularly I’m interested to evaluate the relationship between work values congruence and work-life balance experience. Current work-life balance literature seems to have a main focus on objective measures such as work time, work location or geographic characteristics, while my research aims to explore the subjective side of the work-life balance phenomenon, particularly how people’s value perspectives affect their perception, behaviour and appraisal of their work-life balance.
One important construct of my research is Schwartz’s typology of work values. I’m eager to hear from those who are familiar with Schwartz’s work values and its application in work and life related research. I do have some questions regarding Schwartz’s work values and would love to discuss with researchers in related fields.
